SCHADS Award (Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010)

The SCHADS Award is the Fair Work modern award covering most disability, home care, and social community workers in Australia — including penalty rates, loadings, allowances, and minimum engagement rules.

SCHADS applies to a substantial share of NDIS and home care workforces. Rostering and payroll systems must enforce SCHADS rules at the timesheet level — including casual loading, broken-shift rules, weekend penalties, and minimum engagement periods.

Providers that calculate payroll separately from rostering routinely under- or over-pay staff. A unified roster-to-payroll workflow inside the same record reduces both legal risk and back-office hours.
